January 2, 1943: "Ownership of the Conifer Lumber company of Klamath Falls has been transferred to the Ralph L. Smith Lumber company, and beginning with the new year is operating under the new name, it was learned Saturday.
Conifer Lumber company was established here in April, 1941, by W. E. and Carl Huson, and operates a lumber re-manufacturing business. Its principal product has been interior finish, but recently it has been going heavily into crating manufacturing on war orders.
Ralph L. Smith company operates a mill at Canby, a box factory at Alturas, and mills at Sutherlin and Coquille.
Carl Huson, who has served as manager of the plant here, said he will continue with the operation temporarily." (Herald and News)
