January 27, 1943: "Ben Jacoby, Looking Glass resident, was in Mercy hospital here today suffering from burns, concussion and internal injuries resulting from an accident at the Bryson Timber company mill at Sutherlin.
Jacoby was injured while engaged in work on a lumber conveyor. A piece of machinery fell, striking him across the body and knocking him unconscious. He fell into a refuse burner and suffered severe leg burns before being rescued. His condition was reported to be critical." (Herald and News)
