June 28, 1922: "A million feet of logs were burned over at or near the Walt Woodward sawmill in the fire that was burning in the woods around the sawmill the past two days. It is now under control. The mill is nine miles up the Coast fork." (Ashland Weekly Tidings)

April 27, 1950: "A wild haulback chain brought instant death Wednesday to Foy Clayton Smith, 51, in a woods accident.
Smith was employed by the Woodard Lumber company. He was a truck driver and was standing by his truck when the strap broke and hit him in the left side. He died instantly." (Herald and News)
