KLAETSCH'S MILL
Springwater
July 6, 1916: "After several months spent in moving their mill into its new location in Springwater, together with weeks of building and installing machinery, dam, conveyor, etc., the Klaetsch Mill is now in operation.
This mill is one of the largest plants in the county, with a capacity of 30,000 feet per day. The plant will employ fifteen men and is turning out the best of fir and cedar lumber, specializing on dimension materials.
To facilitate the handling of the immense stand of timber adjoining, a 150 foot dam was constructed across a branch of Clear Creek, creating a mill pond of sufficient capacity to handle 1,000,000 feet of timber." (Eastern Clackamas News)
