February 1, 1921: "A company known as the Talent Lumber company with $150,000 capital stock has just been incorporated, with the intention of erecting a complete modern electrical power sawmill at the point this spring. According to reports from that district a strip of land along the Southern Pacific railroad was donate by the Talent residents, who subscribed $2000 for the purpose. The company has purchased 600 acres of fine timber in the Wagner creek section west of Talent, and will erect a mill of 25,000 feet daily capacity. W. T. Normile will be manager of the company's plant, and E. E. Welford of Medford has taken the contract for the company logging." (Ashland Daily Tidings)
October 18, 1922: "A sawmill, with a capacity of approximately 30,000 feet daily, giving Jackson county an additional payroll of about $150,000, is proposed by several Medford men, to be located at Talent, in the near future.
Timber holdings that will justify manufacturing operations for many years have been acquired, while two years have been spent in making a survey of conditions.
Officers and directors of the organization, to be known as the Talent Lumber Company, are George T. Collins, president; William T. Normile, vice-president; Porter J. Neff, secretary; Ralph G. Bardwell, treasurer, and Eric Wold, S. I. Brown and Dr. J. J. Emmens, directors." (Ashland Weekly Tidings)
