August 12, 1930: "Albert Peterson, an employe of the George Willian sawmill on Upper Camp Creek run a planer sliver into his arm while at work late Saturday. While he was shoveling planer slivers off the dock one of them flew back and stuck into his arm working its way into the muscles. He went immediately to a doctor and had it removed. The sliver was about four inches long and as large around as a finger. One artery had to be tied when the sliver was removed. The doctor stated that it was the largest he had ever cut out.
