SMITH AND ECKLER
Lebanon
April 27, 1867: "Smith and Eckler, in defiance of every opposition, within the last few weeks have erected a steam saw-mill, that is now in successful operation, turning out several thousand feet of lumber daily. They intend, during the course of the season, to attach a planer, so that they can make and finish lumber with a facility unsurpassed anywhere in the state. The well known proficiency of Smith as a millwright a machinist, is a sufficient recommendation." (Albany State Rights Democrat)
