September 24, 1915: “A. R. Dougherty left Sunday for Marcola where he has accepted a position with the Fischer Lumber Company.” (The Brownsville Times)
August 16, 1918: “The Fischer Lumber company, of Marcola, will erect a new mill, work upon which has already commenced, at a cost of about $100,000, to take the place of a smaller mill which was destroyed by fire June 8, according to an announcement made in Eugene by Fred Fischer, president of the company. The mill is being built on the location of the old plant above Marcola.” (Silver Lake Leader)
August 4, 1921: “Eugene.---Carl E. Fischer states that the big mill of the Fischer Lumber company at Marcola has been in operation during the last week, employing a crew of about 125 men on an eight hour shift. The orders have been coming in just about fast enough to take care of the output, Mr. Fischer says. Very few of the larger mills of this section are in operation.” (Silver Lake Leader and Lake County Tribune)
February 28, 1922: "The Fischer Lumber company mill is located at Marcola in the Mohawk valley, Fred Fischer is manager. The capacity of the mill is 70 M. The 1920 cut was 12,000,000 feet. A 50,000 feet capacity planing mill and dry kiln is operated with the sawmill. All lumber to be shipped by rail is flumed two miles to the railroad. The company owns 150,000,000 feet of timber which is being logged over three and one-half miles of railroad." (The Eugene Guard)
