August 29, 1920: "A ready market for junipers, cut from land being cleared on Carey act irrigation projects in the Redmond country, and an additional payroll of 15 men will be provided here within the next 60 days through the building of a juniper pencil-slat manufacturing plant in Redmond.
The Redmond Juniper Manufacturing company has been formed with a capitalization of $10, 000. Officers will be: G. E. Dobson, president; Dr. J. F. Hosch, vice president; L. S. Roberts, secretary-treasurer, and C. F. Hoskins, W. M. Wilson, W. C. Van Cleve and G. E. Dobson, directors. Others who have bought stock in the corporation are: J. R. Roberts, M. A. Lynch, J. A. October 20, 1920: "Complete machinery equipment for installation in the new juniper pencil slat factory being erected in Redmond near the tracks of the Oregon Trunk railroad, has arrived. The building which is to house the plant is now being erected and it is expected the plant will be in operation in about three weeks." (The Evening Herald)
November 30, 1920: "The factory building of the Redmond Juniper Manufacturing company is completed and the machinery is all in place, it is announced. Officers of the company wired for an expert to visit the plant and set the saws properly that the making of the juniper pencil slats may begin." (The Evening Herald)
