December 20, 1900: "Tillamook county commissioners have leased the county sawmill to County Judge G. W. Sappington until April 1, who will furnish road planking ay $4 per 1,000 feet." (Condon Globe)
October 8, 1901: "The County Court has purchased for use in constructing roads a single portable sawmill, with a 52-inch saw, for $190. The mill is expected to arrive tomorrow. It will be used in cutting planks to cover the dike which has been constructed as a part of the new road to the Nehalem Valley." (The Morning Oregonian)
