DAVE MORGAN LOGGING
Josephine County - O'Brien
October 6, 1949: "The new logging company that has headquarters at O'Brien, started to work this week on a timber stand that will take them several years to cut.
Dave Morgan, from Longview, Washington, is head of the logging operations, and has, or will employ about 20 men in the woods and drivers. All of the timber is located in California, and will have quite a haul to get into the Valley mills.
Mr. Morgan said he expected to deliver the logs to mills in the Valley, and would haul approximately 100,000 board feet every day. This will enable several mills to operate that perhaps, otherwise would be shut down for lack of logs.
Morgan brought most of his trained men with him, and a large number of new families have moved into the O'Brien territory." (Illinois Valley News)

October 20, 1949: "Dave Morgan of the Morgan Logging company at O'Brien, living in a cabin owned by Fred Gohde, which burned to the ground Wednesday morning about 10 o'clock.
Mrs. Morgan had gone across the street to buy some groceries and when she returned the house was in flames. Mr. Morgan was in Grants Pass on business.
The Morgan's lost all their furniture and belongings, also all of Mr. Morgan's private papers connected with the logging company, and some records that he cannot replace, were lost. The fire is supposed to have started from defective wiring, so the News was informed." (Illinois Valley News)
