July 15, 1941: "Cutting around 120,000 feet, Buzard Burkhart company, is going great guns." (The Evening Herald)
January 10, 1942: "A fire last Wednesday night at the Buzard-Burkhart Lumber company sawmill near Lakeview was reported to have destroyed the boiler room and engine room, forcing a shutdown of the mill for 'at least two or three months.'
According to O. E. Thompson of the United States Employment service who returned here Friday from Lakeview, the blaze completely razed the vital power plant of the 40-man mill.
It was believed the mill would be down for at least two months until replacement parts could be shipped and the burned portion of the plant rebuilt.
Extent of the loss was not known here Friday." (The Klamath News)
