February 1, 1965: "Fire early Sunday destroyed the big Drain Plywood Company plant here and owner Harold Wooley estimated damage at near 2 1-2 million.
'It's a total loss,' a company official said several hours after the blaze broke out at 5 a.m. Firemen still were throwing water on the plant at midday.
A spokesman said the fire started near the edge gluer. One crew was working at the time but no injuries were reported.
Two railroad cars filled with plywood also were lost.
The plant is one of the chief industries of this northern Douglas County area and employed 235 men. It has an annual payroll of about $3 million, including woods crews.
The plant has been in operation since 1958.

March 10, 1965: "The Drain Plywood Co. plant, which was destroyed by a fire Jan. 31, will be rebuilt, it was announced Tuesday.
Harold Wooley, president and principal owner of the firm, said work on the rebuilding of the green veneer mill would start soon.
