Diamond Lake Siding
April 11, 1965: "The all-electric Winema Lumber Company, located five miles south of Chemult at the Diamond Lake Siding, opened their new gas-run dry kiln in early March for operation.
The kilns, installed by the company, were engineered and manufactured by the Standard Dry Kiln Company of Indianapolis. Housed in a separate plant, built by Sweethome Construction, the kilns have a total holding capacity of over 200,000 board feet of lumber. There are two kilns in the installation and each is heated with its own gas system with electric motors.
The Winema Lumber Company is an independent stud mill operation presently using hemlock and white fir. Waste lumber chips from the operation are sold to Crown Zellerbach and the kiln treated lumber is shipped by rail.
Charles A. Hosey is the general manager of the plant, having recently accepted the position with the company. He is formerly of Lake Oswego and Bly. Hosey, his wife and two children are now living in Chemult." (Herald and News)

May 23, 1965: "Winema Lumber Company of Chemult was high bidder for 4,450 thousand board feet of national forest timber on the Dry Flat sale which was sold May 20.
The appraised value of the Ponderosa pine and associated species was $r1,102.50, high bid was $95,862.50, an increase of $44,760 over the appraised price." (Herald and News)
